What Coins Should I Collect?

People ask me all the time, what kind of coins should they collect?  The best answer that I usually tell them is that they should collect what they like.  I mean there are literally thousands of coins out there waiting to be bought and put into someones collection.  When I started coin collecting 10 years ago, I did not know anything about coins and never thought that I would even be a collector.  But the thing that really got me excited and into collecting coins was that every coin is different and has a different story of its own.  For example, when you look at coins from the 1800's, you can only imagine what it was like to use those coins in everyday transactions and how the designs on the coins changed over time.  I always found that fascinating and that was just another great reason why I started coin collecting.  If someone was going to ask me what they should collect, I would just simply tell them to collect what they like.
